Falling ill and the reverse, getting healthy, is not as complicated as you might think. Yes, there are many intricacies and we are all going to have slightly different problems but when you break things down to the common denominators the problems become a lot simpler. There are really only 5 reasons why your cells, tissues and organs will go from normal to abnormal.
You might have seen the below image floating around our website and literature? It summarises the process of developing a disease and is worth a closer look.
The five factors that can create this unfortunate shift from normal to disease are genetics, deficiency, excess, imbalance and toxins.
I don’t talk much about genetics as they are overhyped and not as important as we have been led to believe. In his book The Biology of Belief, Bruce Lipton sums it up beautifully. He writes that unless you are unfortunate enough to have a genetic disease expressed at birth, such as cystic fibrosis, then genetics is not what is causing you to be unwell. Genes need to be ‘turned on’ or expressed if they are going to have an effect on the body.
The relatively recent discovery of epi-genetics has shown that it is our environment that turns on our genes. By environment we mean the physical, emotional, and chemical stresses we experience. If you have a gene for a particular condition, unless you trigger it with environmental factors, it will never express itself and the disease will not develop.
The conclusion is that if you live a good, healthy, and clean lifestyle, your negative genes should never turn on and be expressed. Genes are not a significant factor in chronic degenerative disease and probably only apply to about five percent of the population. This is great news as it means the problem is lifestyle based and can be addressed and corrected.
Our focus needs to be on the deficiency, excess, imbalance and toxins. When you identify and correct these factors your body can heal.
A missing piece of many peoples understanding is how something that seems so solid or static like our bodies can heal and positively change once a negative change (disease) has occurred.
Many years ago my youngest daughter came to me with a human encyclopaedia for kids. She said “Dad you have to read this, it’s so GROSS!” What she then proceeded to read to me was a sentence that said “in the time it takes you to read this sentence you have 3000 skin cells fall off you”. To a little kid I can agree that sounded pretty gross but I took the opportunity to teach her what I’m now speaking to you about. Our cells are not static and the cells we have in our body now are almost 100% different to the cells we had 10 years ago!
Skin cells fall off and get replaced by the minute. When you think about it this makes sense as we don’t run out of skin do we? All our red blood cells are new every 120 days. This is why a smoker that quits has more energy after four months of quitting. Almost all of our cells have a natural lifespan and then actually die and are replaced by new cells. Even something as solid as bone has this turnover. It’s slower at about every 7 to 10 years but we still have new bone compared to what we had 15 years ago!
This means we can heal. This means that if you give your body exactly what it needs as these cells come up for renewal that we can reverse most chronic degenerative disease.
What we need to do is consistently keep our nutrients and minerals in balance with diet, supplements and a nutritional balancing program. We need to pay attention to our deficiencies, excesses, imbalances and toxins. When we do this long enough and consistently enough the body does heal.
