Why Is Retesting So Important On A Nutritional Balancing Program?

Friday, 30 June 2017 11:00

Every 3 to 6 months you will need to be retesting your hair when you are on a nutritional balancing program.  WHY?  There are many reasons and Dr Wilson writes "the main one is that a properly designed nutritional balancing program will slowly uncover and expose deeper layers of biochemical imbalances, toxic metals, toxic chemicals, chronic infections and nutrient deficiencies to be resolved and eliminated.  Thus, when one follows this program, each retest brings up a new layer of imbalances that needs to be addressed with the healing program."   There are others though and I think it would be helpful to look at them.

Stress Management

To me this is the big one.  We all have stress in our lives but we don't all manage it well.  The hair mineral analysis shows stress in several ways.  Some of the patterns that show stress are extreme slow oxidation, four lows patter, fast oxidation, low Na/K ratio, low potassium amongst others.

We can compare stress and its effects on the body to a bank account.  Stress is the main cash "withdrawer" and the main "deposits" are the overall nutritional balancing program and lifestyle.  If we "spend" more that we "earn" we will not heal very well, if at all.  This diagram illustrates this principle.

When the orange arrow (the stress and "withdrawer of cash" outweighs the repairing green arrow (the "deposits") we see downward or backwards movement.  It is very important to recognise this as we need to get the balance of these things correct.  To many withdrawals and not enough deposits is the root cause of virtually all our health issues.  The retest helps us to assess this and then make changes to the program or lifestyle based on what we see.

Management of Symptoms

While symptom treating is not the goal of a NB program it is still needed at times.  Often while on a program we expose deeper layers of issues and these can bring up a symptom.  For example, if a person starts to detoxify mercury when they previously had not been, they will have all kinds of symptoms that they certainly may not like.  This detoxification is a good thing but often we need to make a few changes to help the person be more comfortable.

Another benefit to retesting and the management of symptoms is that if you do feel unwell at least you will know WHY  you do and this can psychologically help you cope, manage and work your way through it.

Early Detection

A lot of people don't realise that blood is very tightly controlled by the body.  This is primarily because if the levels in blood fluctuate very much it has a catastrophic effect on the body.  As a result the body will sacrifice tissue levels for the sake of the blood.  Calcium is a great example.    Often when a person has a thyroid issue they will have trouble regulating tissue calcium and this is because there is a conflict between the thyroid and parathyroid with each of them pushing calcium in different directions.  The blood will remain normal but the tissue levels can fluctuate wildly and as a result this give us early detection into issues.  It helps us to asses sub-clinical issues and avoid having to wait until a symptom actually appears.  From this perspective retesting can be invaluable.

Safety

We need to acknowledge that if correct supplementation can help to heal, then incorrect supplementation can also potentially harm.  Too much of something, too little, or the creation of imbalances in the body is what we are trying to correct, so to haphazardly be taking supplements makes very little sense.  We need to be measuring and apply a certain level of logic to supplementation and the use of the hair mineral analysis helps us with this.

Being on a nutritional balancing program is both exciting and scary at the same time but overall a retest is something to look forward to. It's a time to reflect and assess.  When I speak with you it's a time to be brutally honest with yourself.  Are you doing all you can be doing?  Are you doing it consistently? Do you have good routines and structures in place to ensure your success?  If not, what are you going to do about it?  Occasionally we need to get very real and ask the difficult questions but that's what having a practitioner is for.  I may not have all the answers but I can help to put things in perspective and in place to help you achieve your goals.

I'll look forward to your next retest.
